A very successful information day was held at "Inverleigh" on Friday 6th June highlighting the many ecological and econimic benefits of maintaining diversity of soil biology and plant species in order to regenerate degraded farmland. Host, Col Hamilton showcased his experiences with the use of "covercropping" and "rotational grazing" to build his soil organic carbon content from 0.9 up to 1.9 withing a few years. This he believes demonstrates that he is on the right track to be able to reduce or even eliminate the use of synthetic fertilizer inputs altogether in the future, while maintaining or even increasing yields and quality.
